Extending your property
Adding an extension to your current property is a good alternative to a costly move into a larger building. There are two main benefits to building an extension:
- To increase space
- To add value and save money
Ground floor extensions lend themselves to family-friendly kitchens, dining rooms, or offices. First Floor and Two Storey Extensions can really increase your living space, creating the opportunity to add an additional bedroom or bathroom etc. Loft conversions are also a great way to make better use of your existing building – turning that dead space into usable floor space you never knew you had.
Whether you want something that joins seamlessly with the style of the rest of your house/office, or prefer something more focal and fabulous, Oakland can help you make the most of your existing building.
We’ll happily advise you on how best to add that extra space and help you to decide what you need in order to maintain a balance to your building. We appreciate the importance of ensuring that your new extension looks great on the outside and connects seamlessly on the inside too.

Do you need planning permission?
Oakland are more than happy to assess the extent of your build and can advise on whether you might need to apply for planning permission, subject to your requirements. Why not contact us today to arrange a call or home visit from Oakland?
NB: You can add 10 per cent of the area of a house – or less than 50 cubic metres – without permission (providing that it’s not already been added to or isn’t in a protected area). However, you’ve still got to contact planners and ask for permitted development rights, but you don’t have to go through the usual planning process. If you think that your intended extension will exceed this, you can find out more about planning permission and building regulations here:
